I can't believe it's already been 36 weeks, this lil guy is coming VERY soon. Some have asked for recent "belly photos" so here are some I had Roberto take these Fri morning before work.
Here's what's going on with Lil Arroyo at 36 weeks:
He is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. At the end of this week, our baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.)
His skin is getting smooth and soft, his gums are rigid, his liver and kidneys are in working order, and his circulation and immune system are basically good to go. Lil Arroyo's lungs are the only organs that still need to fully mature, but every day he gets a little closer to breathing on his own. Yeah!
Last time we checked he was in a head-down position so that's good, had a Non-Stress Test on Friday afternoon where you go to the hospital and they hook you up to a few monitors to see the baby's actions, heartbeat and monitor contractions and then the doc looks at the results. All was well w/that, the lil boy didn't like having the monitors on the belly so he moved around a lot! We were actually in the birthing room for the tests so it was a little preview of what's to come....I started making my list of what to bring to the hospital, need to pack a bag this wk and have things ready just in case. You never know!
If you haven't seen Good Sam's birthing rooms, copy and paste the link below into your internet browser and then on the page to the right of the page it will say "Family Birth Center - Take a Tour Online" and that will show you where Lil Arroyo will be born! It's all done in the same room (provided it's not a C-Section) from start to finish so that's nice and there's lots of space and privacy.
