Back to Work....

I finally got a decision from my job about part-time work and they approved it!  I work Mon and Wed in the office and I work from home on Tues!  Yahoo!  I am so grateful and start the new schedule this week.  Nice to spend time with Logan but also with a little time away, plus he will get some nice quality time with Daddy on Mondays and family/friends on Wednesdays, so it all seemed to work out great.

We had a 3 month check-up for Logan last Monday and the lil guy is big and healthy weighing in at 13.8 lbs now!  He got a few more shots and between that and the acid reflux this last week we had some rough days but he's still doing pretty good.  The pedicatrician also confirmed he has eczema. Poor guy!  Some people say it's inherited but Roberto and I don't have eczema so not sure what to think.  It's getting really bad on his face, but his arms and legs have just dry, bumpy spots in various places.  So we've stopped wrapping him in wool blankets or putting any wool on him in case that is irritating his skin even more.  She also said to bathe him every day and w/in 3 mins of his bath put on creme all over his body, not lotion but creme since it's thicker and helps keep the moisture in.  I just got some good Calendula creme today at New Season's so we'll try something more natural like that.  I've heard from lots of people how good Calendula is for babies and read a lot online so hopefully it helps, I feel bad for him!  Just hope it's not too itchy.

So, we'll see how next week works out with the new schedule.  Should be a nice balance to my schedule, plus it gives me 4 days in a row off.  By Mon I will probably be ready to get out of the house!  (Also, thanks to Dakota for yesterdays pic!)

I'm not asleep

I'm just resting me eyelids a bit; reuniting the boys for one last hurrah. Now I'm just going to be quiet so as not to ruin the moment. What can I say, that's just the kind of baby I am.

So I had an appt to follow-up my gestational diabetes with a clinic in NW Portland that specializes in diabetes, my numbers are still a little bit higher than normal and I got sick of checking my blood sugar when no matter what I ate or when I ate it they were still a little bit high.  The doctor was really nice, we talked about the numbers, my diet, etc and she said since it had only been 3 months since the baby was born it was still kinda close to the pregnancy.  (I guess sometimes the further you get from the pregnancy the lower your numbers go.)  So that was one factor, but honestly I am wondering if possibly I had diabetes of some sort (or was on the edge of getting it) before I got pregnant but was just never tested for it or showed symptoms of it.  That was something she suspected as well.

So she didn't want to formally say I had diabetes since the numbers were not that high, and I have to check in with her in 3 months.  Since Logan was born I have lost a good amount of weight, I weigh less than when I got pregnant, but she suggested losing a little more weight and more specifically getting regular exercise.  So not sure how easy that is going to be but if it helps me not be diabetic then I need to try.  So walks w/Logan but since the weather is getting cold and wet, this probably means trips to the gym....will just have to make time.  ;(

Well I'm happy to report Logan is sleeping fairly well at night and if we are at home he gets in some good naps during the day, which seems to help the night sleep.  (Although as I type this he is wide awake and sitting w/Roberto watching TV, something that is becoming a favorite thing for him!  Not sure if that is a good or bad thing...)

Anyhow, he is sleeping up to 5-6 hrs a night now!  It's amazing!  Three months does seem to be the magic number for things for his reflux???  Well, I am not sure if it's his reflux or what is going on but the poor lil guy is spitting up a lot lately.  The last few days he has been spitting up, sometimes in more amounts than others, and we are not sure why.  Is he becoming that baby that just spits up after he eats all the time?  I hope not!  Most of the time he isn't too bothered w/the spit up but sometimes he is.  I am keeping to my diet so not sure what the issue is....we have a check-up w/the pediatrician Monday so maybe that will shed some light on it....

Anyways....what else?  I'm on the hunt for more GF/DF meal ideas, time to bring the crockpot out again, especially with winter here, good soup and stew time, although Roberto is not a big fan of those but they are easy so we'll see....we got the new iPhone and switched from AT&T to Sprint because it was cheaper, the phone is great!  The camera is awesome, excited to use FaceTime with friends and family and like the Siri app.

New Diet

Since I have had to modify my diet so much with Logan's acid reflux, it's been hard to know what to buy or really what to make, that fits the gluten free, dairy free, spicy free bill...I miss going out to breakfast and eating eggs!  Anyhow, I was getting my hair cut the other day and my friend Nathan said he was going to make kale chips, sounded interesting and I had lots of kale in the fridge for our "green drinks."  (Been LOVING those since my parents got us the GREATEST INVENTION EVER - the Vitamix!  We are getting so many more fruits and veggies into our diet, just drinking them in a delicious smoothie!)

Anyways, where was I?  O yes, kale chips, so they turned out pretty good for a little snack.  And speaking of chips, I also got some new potato chips at the store, they are pretty tasty.  We've been eating out too much and Roberto is sick of Mexican food (which I love and fits this diet pretty well...) so I am always on the hunt for new recipes and new ideas...

Yummy Fingers

Logan had a bath this morning and was all nice and clean and then knocked out.  As you can see he is loving his fingers these days!  Must be tasty!  He's napping a bit better, yesterday he even took his morning nap while we were out and about and around people!  Yeah!  Plus, another great thing that happened was that last night I was not up from 3-5am like normal!  That was so nice to get some extra sleep!

So Logan needed to take a lil dip in the sink after filling a diaper, he seemed pretty happy in his own private tub, fit him pretty well!  And looks like he's found a new bed, we finally have his real crib set up but looks like we could have saved a few bucks, he seems content w/his blankie inside his diaper basket on top of his dresser!  Who knew?!

So when we took Logan to get his 2 month check-up the doc was asking how his acid reflux was going and if I had modified my diet and as many of you know I have....(no dairy, gluten, eggs, spicy food) and she wanted us to try and add it back in.  We didn't think that was a very good idea because SHE'S not here at 11pm when he's fussing and spitting up and NOT going to sleep because I ate something that didn't agree with him!  Well, I still tried and last week ate dairy and it took an extra 4 hrs to put him to bed and he spit up a lot so NO DAIRY and last night I ate wheat pasta (BIG MISTAKE) and lots of spit up/throw up, even a little bit today so, we now know they still don't agree with him and/or make his acid reflux way worse.

The ped actually wanted us to try 3 different times but no thanks, not dealing with that again!  We'll try in a few months because I do agree that their little systems are changing all the time as they get older so maybe what bothers him today won't bother him later but it's easier to not eat it than to deal with him not feeling well.

Other than that he is sleeping better at night and in longer periods so that's been nice.  If he gets his naps in during the day he sleeps so much better at night and goes to sleep quicker so we have to stay home a bit more but that's ok.  Right now I'm waiting to hear back from my job about working PT, we'll see what happens....
