A Work in Progress...

Still working on the sleeping issue with's been about a week since he's been in his own room and he's doing fairly well. Still trying to balance it all out with him but it's hopefully going to get better. He does love to stick his bib in his mouth and leave it there and just look at you...too funny.

Logan slept from 930p - 730a in his room! He's been doing great all week and last night was his best night yet. It seemed to work to let him have his 3rd nap of the day a little later and then start bedtime around 8ish. Not ideal time but he just might be one of those babies that goes to bed a little bit later. But minimal crying makes that bedtime worth it and he's still getting a really good amt of sleep with his naps and night sleep, more than he was getting before. Can't believe at night how soundly and silent he is - he really knocks out. Good for him, I'm sure he feels better!

Well we don't want to get our hopes up too much, but Logan FINALLY slept in his crib last night in his room by himself!  He dozed from 10p - 7a!  He is 5 months tomorrow so some of you are probably saying, "It's about time!" while others are probably saying "Too soon!"  Either way, this was the right time for us, we have been working this week to get him out of our room completely and have him learn to put himself to sleep on his own.  It's been a challenge since we are also pushing this for his naps at home.

But the good news is, so far it seems like he is catching on very fast.  There have been quite a few tears, which breaks my (not Roberto's) heart but I know we aren't killing him and that he will survive.  Thanks to my girlfriend recommending a great book (thanks Andrea!) called "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" and some tips from her after she had huge success w/her own daughter and this book, he may be well on his way.  Although, to avoid the cry fests, I think we are going to have to move his bath and bedtime up a little earlier, at least for a little bit.  We'll have to really work on getting him some good naps (which by the way he is taking one right now, only about 2.5 hrs after he woke up) during the day and getting him in his crib to put himself to sleep before 8pm.  We'll see how the rest of the week goes....

Happy Boy

This boy is really happy when he is awake - although nighttime is a different situation! Poor guy! We've finally decided to transition Logan to sleeping in his own room in his crib and it's a challenge. It includes some crying which makes me sad but it's ok, I know it's for the best. U'd never knw he had tears from this picture!

I hate going to bed!

Logan hates going to bed at night and then isn't sleeping too well because of his itchy face! Poor kiddo! He needs lots of sleep cuz he is a growing boy! Oye Vey! Kids! (I think it goes without saying - Roberto and I are a bit sleep deprived ourselves!)

More Firsts....

Logan got his first pair of jeans last week, they are so cute and warm!  He looks more like a little boy each day!

We have also discontinued the rice cereal because he may be allergic to it, not sure but we are pretty convinced that is what has broked out his poor little mouth all around it.  (You'll notice in the below pics.  How can this be?  This kid IS half Korean - allergic to rice?  Sheesh!  If I have to take it out of MY diet as well......that's gonna be a difficult decision.)  What a bummer too, just when we got his eczema under control!  Ugh!  This kid, I tell ya....they don't make 'em like they used to!  He did get to try a banana for the first time the other day though, interested in it as just like everything else but after a few tastes he stuck his tongue out and wouldn't take anymore!  So we may try again today or tomorrow but we are trying to clear up the rash around his mouth so we are giving the solids a rest for a few days, he's had nothing since Fri.

Logan also got his first haircut by our friend Nathan last night!  Nathan was a trooper for doing us this favor and Logan was a trooper for sitting pretty still....he did great!  He now looks more like a little boy!  (That makes me both happy and sad at the same time.)

Rice Cereal Time!

Since the pediatrician cleared us to start Logan on solid foods, we are beginning with rice cereal....the first time he didn't like it at all but the last few times he has been "eating" it (as well as he can!) and it seems to be a success.  This poor kid, he is SO interested whenever we are putting anything into our mouths!  He just stares and stares and when you offer or put something close to his - he opens right up!  Too bad he can only try new things every week vs every few days!  O well, soon enough he will be eating everything!  (Hopefully.)

4 Month Check-Up

Logan had his 4 month check-up on Friday -- He has grown 2 inches in length and his head has grown an inch in the last 2 months!  He weighs 14.7 lbs now, which means he gained 1 lb in the last month.  With his weight, he has actually gone from the 50th percentile down to the 30th percentile but he's still healthy.  We can start him on solid foods now and see how that goes, especially since he is so interested in EVERYTHING we are eating and drinking now and since he feeds longer, he's ready to try some rice cereal!  Also, his face is getting better, thanks to Cetaphil Restoraderm, plus at night we are putting a little Hydrocortisone on his face so it doesn't itch too much while he is sleeping.  It all seems to be helping though, so we'll see if it continues.
